Somaliland: British Using Somaliland as an Example - S. Wales Echo

IT’S shameful that Dan O’Neill’s friend was verbally and physically threatened in Riverside by someone stating “you’re in Somaliland now” and, like Dan I can’t find Somaliland on a Cardiff map.
Nevertheless, I reckon Dan needs to change his map of our city.
My map clearly shows Bute Street as being in the Bay, yet Dan makes a direct link between the crime against his friend in Riverside, with there being no CCTV in Bute Street. Wonder why?

I AM disappointed to read that a small minority of people oppose the part pedestrianisation of Cardiff’s St Mary Street. This scheme will undoubtedly create a safer, cleaner and more pedestrian friendly environment for this long neglected area of Cardiff city centre. Buses can now flow freely down the street without being held up by other traffic and businesses will surely receive more trade due to the increase in football. A recent poll by the Echo showed that 92 per cent of readers support the pedestrianisation and I’m sure that once proven successful and pavements are widened with addition of street furniture/toilet facilities etc, along with more parking spaces available in the city centre, St Mary Street can emulate the success that Queen Street has had due to pedestrianisation back in the 1970s.

SO we are losing Sara Edwards, below, from the Wales news team, what a shame. We’ve got used to her or Jamie coming into our living room at 6.30pm each evening and Sara will be a big loss with her lovely smile and great personality. Also her warm and precise speaking voice, we knew every word she said which is good when so many of the young today act as though they are in a race when they speak.

We read that we will see Sara in other roles with the BBC and would like through the South Wales Echo, to wish her good luck for the future.
