Association of Awdal Community of North America. (AACNA) - Press Release

Association of Awdal Community of North America. (AACNA)
25 July 2007
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Assocaition of Awdal Community of North America is a Not for Profit organization (or Non Profit Organization) formed at the Awdal Convention in Minneapolis, Minnesota of 15-17 June 2007. It was consitituted to organise, research, initiate and implement development projects in Awdal in collaboration with Awdalian Diaspora around the world, the Community inside Awdal and to seek the support of International donors, grant makers and philanthropic foundations and governments.AACNA has been given the mandate to make every effort to reverse the severity of underdevelopment in Awdal. The Board of AACNA has unanimously accepted that mandate and all the responsibility it entails during their tenure.

The resolutions of the above Convention have produced a long list of needs, and as is common to all underdeveloped communities, all of these needs are indispensable. Yet, in the interest of realization and fruition some have to be designated a priority. Those must have the characteristics of engendering community development. Some projects will need the altruistic sacrifice of a few members of the community, whereas others will require the collective determination, resources and the utmost sacrifice of the people of Awdal.

Having that in mind, the Board has decided that three projects namely the Dila-Borama road, Education and Seed Nursery will be the category A projects.Anchored in the criteria of collective sacrifice and owing to its critical importance to the wider social benefits, the Board of Directors of the Association of Awdal Community of North America has resolved that the road between Dila and Borama deserves the utmost attention of the people of Awdal and has been designated the primary project. The Board will, in the very near future, produce a fundraising plan that will involve the Awdal Diaspora around the world and the Awdal Community back home. The Board will produce directions and strategies for the various communities to start the fundraising and if necessary will send members to aid them in that capacity.

The designation of the road as the primary project does not, by any stretch of the imagination, mean that other projects will have to wait or be on hold. The Board and the Awdalian community will continue to implement projects simultaneously and according to the specific requirements of each project. The Board of Association of Awdal Community of North America would like to remind the Awdal Community every where that development is attained by those who unite to achieve it.
